Could TikTok Be Banned In The United States Soon??

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has just advanced a measure for a bill that aims to ban TikTok in the United States on all electronic devices.

So what is the reason behind this? The U.S. government believes that the Chinese government is using TikTok, which is owned by ByteDance - a Chinese company, to spy on Americans. If this bill ends up passing, TikTok won't be available to download on the app stores in the U.S. unless ByteDance sells the social media app, which they have 165 days (over 5 months) to do so. TikTok has been making users aware of what's been going on and have added pop-ups in the app so users can "contact their representatives to vote no on the TikTok ban."

“A TikTok ban will silence your creativity,” the pop-up reads. “Millions of creators across America are inspiring the world with their skill and talent on TikTok.” It continues, “Act now to protect your freedom to create.”

Next the bill will be going to the House floor for voting and if they pass it then it'll go to Senate. For more, click here.
