Berlin Zoo Releases Adorable New Photos Of Baby Panda Twins

Proceed with caution: this article contains an abundance of cuteness.

The Berlin Zoo released a few brand new photos of the twin pandas that were born there back in August. It's pretty much impossible to look at them without saying "awwwww" or squealing with joy. Though still unnamed, these little guys are doing really well and growing up so fast.

The Zoo has been updating its followers about the panda twins' progression for the past few months. While there were no major updates this past week, the Zoo still decided to share some new photos. "No panda news for today so instead we’ll show you a week’s worth of adorable pictures. The twins now weigh just a bit over 5 kg each," the caption reads.

In a press release last month, Zoo Director Dr. Andreas Knieriem said the staff is “thrilled” at how the two baby pandas are developing. “There are only 1,864 adult pandas currently living in their natural habitat,” he explained. “As a result, every single new cub represents an important contribution to the conservation of the species.”

According to People, The Berlin Zoo took in the cubs’ parents, 6-year-old mom Meng Meng and 9-year-old dad Jiao Qing, on loan from China in 2017 as part of the country’s “panda diplomacy.” Once the cubs are 4-years-old, they will be sent back to China, as well.
