Everybody remain calm: Keirnan Shipka just hinted that a Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover might be happening. During an interview on Buzzfeed's AM to DM, the 18-year-old actress revealed she's hoping the two shows can figure something out despite airing on different networks.
"I think it could only work if a character from their show came to our show," Shipka said. "The shows are so different that I donât think we could totally merge them. But I do think itâd be fun."
While Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will debut on Netflix this Friday (Oct. 26) and Riverdale is currently in its third season on The CW, the shows exist in the same fictional universe. Greendale, where Sabrina Spellman is from, and Riverdale, where Archie and the gang live, are neighboring towns. Greendale has already made a cameo in Riverdale during season two when the Black Hood breaks into Miss Grundy's house, which is located in Greendale.
Shipka believes Sabrina would get along with Archie Andrews, played by KJ Apa, and Betty Cooper, played by Lili Reinhart. "Theyâre like, the fixers," she said. "Theyâre like, mad at their town and they want to make it different and want to stand up for what they believe is right, and I feel like Sabrinaâs the same kind of gal."
Both Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina film in Toronto, as well, so the two casts are already friendly with each other. Shipka spoke about the possibility of a crossover on Live with Kelly and Ryan on Friday (Oct. 19) too, revealing there are "small references to Riverdale" on Sabrina. âYou know what, as just selfishly as a Riverdale fan, I hope there is [a crossover]," Shipka continued. But also Greendale is here and Riverdale is here â both these towns are so action packed, so much stuff is going down. How are they not talking about this or bonding over the fact that all of this stuff is happening?â
