Thieves Steal 20 Tons of Chocolate In Germany

Do you ever get a really, REALLY strong craving for chocolate? Like, a "I need literally 20 tons of chocolate right this second" level craving? Well, apparently, some people in Germany experienced that exact feeling this morning.

Thieves stole a refrigerated truck that was carrying 20 tons of chocolate products, including Nutella and Kinder Surprise eggs. According to the German authorities, the total value of the stolen chocolate was worth upwards of $80,000.

Police are now on the hunt for the thieves and have solicited the public for information on the heist that likely occurred between Saturday night and midday Sunday in Neustadt.

On Monday, they released a statement that said "Anyone offered large quantities [of chocolate] via unconventional channels should report it to the police immediately."

To make matters stickier, the chocolate theft wasn't even the first large-scale food robbery in Germany this week! On Saturday, a trailer carrying 30 tons of fruit juice was stolen from the nearby town of Wittenburg. It certainly seems like the police certainly have a lot on their plate this week in the way of food heists.
